About this place

Legoland Deutschland Resort in Günzburg, Bavaria, is one of Germany's most visited theme parks and a top day trip for families with young children. Located right off the A8 highway between Munich and Stuttgart, it combines rides, shows and the famous Miniland, where cities like Berlin, Hamburg and Venice have been rebuilt from millions of Lego bricks. It is ideal if you are traveling in southern Germany with kids.

Where it is and how to get there

The park's address is LEGOLAND Allee 1, 89312 Günzburg, between Ulm and Augsburg. According to Legoland, the drive from Munich or Stuttgart takes about 1.5 hours each via the A8 (exit Günzburg). Munich Airport is also about 1.5 hours away by car. More than 4,000 parking spaces cost €12 per day.

By train, travel to Günzburg station, where a regular local bus runs to the park. If you book your Deutsche Bahn ticket all the way to "LEGOLAND Park," the bus transfer is included, and the Bavaria regional day ticket (Bayern-Ticket) is valid on the shuttle too.

A short history

Legoland Deutschland opened on May 17, 2002, as the fourth Legoland in the world after Billund, Windsor and Carlsbad, and at the time it was the largest. The site was once a military ammunition depot, and specialists spent about two years clearing old bombs before construction began. Today the resort covers about 125 hectares and welcomed around 2 million visitors in 2024. The park advertises 68 attractions in 11 themed areas built from more than 58 million bricks.

What you will see

  • Miniland, mostly at 1:20 scale, with Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg harbor, Venice, Amsterdam, Neuschwanstein Castle and Munich's Allianz Arena
  • Lego Mythica, with the wing coaster Maximus (2023) and the Fire & Ice drop towers
  • Lego Ninjago World, with an interactive 4D dark ride
  • The Land of the Pharaohs, the Land of Knights with the Feuerdrache family coaster, and an aquarium run with SEA LIFE

In October the park hosts a Halloween event.

Tickets and opening hours

As of October 2026, according to the official website:

  • The 2026 main season runs until November 8. The park generally opens at 10 a.m.; closing times vary by day, and rides close one hour before the park.
  • WinterWonder Legoland opens on selected days from November 28, 2026, to January 10, 2027.
  • Online tickets start at €39, depending on the date. Regular gate prices in the main season are €58 for children aged 2 to 11 and €64 for visitors 12 and older.
  • Children under 2 enter free.

Is it worth visiting?

Yes, if you have children roughly between three and twelve; few parks are so carefully designed for that age group, and adults love Miniland. Plan a full day, buy tickets online to save money and check minimum height limits in the app. Dogs are not allowed, except assistance dogs. The on-site Legoland Holiday Village, with a pirate hotel, castle-themed rooms and cabins, makes a two-day visit easy. Start the day at the most popular rides, such as Maximus and the Ninjago ride, and save Miniland for the afternoon, when ride lines are longer. On rainy days, the indoor aquarium and dark rides are your best bets, and shows are included in the ticket price.
